ABOUT US

The South African Groundnut Association, a registered non-profit organisation,  is dedicated to promoting, developing, and advancing the groundnut sector both locally and internationally. Through research, collaboration, and strategic partnerships, the Association works to ensure the sustainability and growth of groundnut production, processing, and marketing. Our goals include safeguarding breeding programs, enhancing seed production, fostering transparency, and representing the interests of all stakeholders. We are committed to building cooperation within the industry, advocating for our members, and contributing to the overall development of the groundnut value chain.

OUR FOCUS

Our aim is to foster cooperation, transparency, and solidarity across all sectors of the groundnut industry.

01

A voice for secondary sectors

The Association is the only structure which offers a specific voice and representative platform for seed producers, selection plants or processors, manufacturers, and local or international traders. The Association fully supports the South African Groundnut Forum, and is keen to foster closer and coordinated efforts to the benefit of the whole groundnut value chain.

02

Growth and stability through partnerships

Through formal and operational agreements with entities such as the ARC and ICRISAT, the members of the Association plays a direct and substantial role in fostering strategic relationships that surpass individual or entity interest, but rather focuses on building a sustainable groundnut industry for all stakeholders across the spectrum.

03

The future is now

In ever increasing uncertainty of future support and agricultural landscape, the Association’s main objective is the safeguarding and advancement of national groundnut breeding and cultivar programs, and seed production. Thought direct involvement, collaboration and mentorship, the interest of commercial and small holder farmers in terms of high quality seed and access to new cultivars are paramount.

04

Common ground

In a relative small industry, it is both challenging and critically important to effectively reach, within the confines of sound competitive practice, for common goals and opportunities to safeguard the investment and future of all stakeholders. The Association creates a sound governed, non-profit driven environment were members can deliberate and conceive plans for immediate threats and and future development.
